Podcast 5 went up this week. A bit late, but worth it. We get hands on with groundbreaking Scottish games Gentlemen! and Other, including a creepy as-live broadcast from the streets of Dundee! Tom reports from the Glasgow Molyjam.
Sick Kids Save Point 4 is three months away, but the prizes for fundraisers are starting to come in. First up, strategy specialists Paradox development studio have been startlingly generous. They’ve only given us a sackful of codes for their top strategy PC games. We have several copies of hit games Crusader Kings 2 and March of the Eagles to give away. We also may have further prizes from Paradox to announce come September…
Crusader Kings 2 is the critically acclaimed medieval europe strategy game which has set our friends at Calm Down Tom a-quiver. “Stand ready, increase your prestige, and listen to the world whisper your name in awe.”
In March of the Eagles, Rise in power in the era of the Napoleonic Wars, the ten years of conflict in Europe between the years 1805 – 1820, and move on to claim the control of Europe.
To enter the draw all you have to do is raise £100 in sponsorship on your Just Giving page for Sick Kids Save Point. The draw will be made a day or two after the weekend of 11th-14th October, which is when we’ll be playing games for 24 hours in aid of the Sick Kids Friends Foundation.
If you haven’t signed up yet, simply follow the directions on the right – read our safety guidelines, make a JustGiving page to collect sponsorship, and tell your friends!
If you ever search ‘sick kids save point’ on you tube, there is a frightening amount of good stuff out there. Here’s the first of this year’s videos, by AlextheKid, one of our SKSP4 early adopters…
And a brilliantly edited vid from Fed – ‘commuting’ across London for Sick Kids:
The aim of the game is to embarrass your owner as much as possible in 3 minutes, by barking, peeing, causing trouble, fighting other dogs etc.
This game also tries itself to embarrass the player – here is SKSP’s Tom playing it: judge for yourself..
After this initial confusion we set the high score for peeing on strangers. The judges were unanimous that this was exactly the kind of exclusive madness the great eccentric would approve of.
Other games included 4-player Ouya game Acorn Warriors, Army recruitment sim Harassing the City and Metroid-in-reverse title VoidStar. We’ll have more in depth reactions in the next podcast but in the meantime check out all the molyjam games from around the world. Many of them are playable! Enjoy!
To celebrate the release of Mr Shingu’s Paper Zoo creators Stormcloud games have given us a free copy to give away!! The game is for ipad and teaches you how to create real origami animals which you can interact within the game. Games like Skylanders and Disney Infinity are incredible because they allow children to mix playing in a game with playing with toys in the real world, but buying all the games and all the toys can be very expensive. Paper Zoo doesn’t have any in game purchases either, so it’s safe to leave with the wee ones…
Origami meets Tamagotchi!
To enter just email us and tell us what ‘outside force’ interrupted our most recent podcast… Competition closes on Friday.
